A. No, we sell from 1 piece to multiple pallets, what ever you need to complete your project.
Each piece measures 16x24 inches.
Each pallet covers 450 sq feet or 50 sq yards.
A. Measure the length and width of the area needing sod, multiply those two numbers together to get your square footage. Divide square footage by nine (9) to obtain your square yardage. (EX: Area 10'x10'=100 Sq Ft. ÷ by 9 = 11 Sq. Yds.).
A. Typically 5-7 days is great, but not always necessary.
Many times we can have sod available for you the same day or the next.
During the busy period (Spring) this can vary. Keep in mind, inclement weather affects the ability to harvest sod on the farm.
A. The answer to this question may vary, but in general, if you have shade, then either St. Augustine or Zoysia is best suited for your lawn. For sun, lawns can utilize Bermuda, St. Augustine, or Zoysia. Zoysia and Bermuda varieties require less water than St. Augustine varieties in full sun, with Bermuda requiring the least amount. It should be noted that all varieties will need regular watering to provide a healthy, vigorous lawn.
A. The very best time would be later winter to early spring. However, in the Dallas — Fort Worth area, we are relatively safe sodding year round. In most cases, the rewards achieved by sodding far outweigh any risks.
A. Sims Grass does not handle sod installation, but we can help get you in touch with one of our recommended installation contractors who can install the sod in your lawn. Most will perform soil preparation prior to installation to ensure the new sod establishes correctly in your soil.
A. We have multiple shipments of fresh sod every day. What you will not see here is old pallets sitting around like at large home improvement stores. Sod is perishable and should be treated as such.
We recommend waiting at least 6 weeks after laying new sod to fertilize. Sod comes fully fertilized from the farm and fertilizing too soon may inhibit the ability of the new sod from rooting in.
We recommend installing your new sod within 24 hours of delivery, or within 12 hours during very hot weather. New sod should be watered within 30 minutes of installation, that may mean watering as you go.
A. Our prices are generally 15-20% less than home improvement stores along with better quality and service!
A. Once the roots are established you may begin mowing your new sod. This typically takes approximately 10-14 days, however individual results may vary. Mowing your grass stimulates healthy grass growth.
Due to the perishable nature of sod, we are unable to accept most returns - please contact us if you have a request for return or any other questions.
